Broken Probes

Thanks to everyone who responded so quickly!

About 30 very helpful responses arrived. I will be away for a week and
will provide a summery after my return.

The short version is that J. Young tubes can cause problems with the
current probes. Manually lowring the samples has been suggested. Not to
spin is also suggested.
Many respondents provided info about probe breaking in general.
