Replacement disk drive for Aspect 3000

The old CDC disk drive on my Aspect 3000 is dying. Although we have an
Avance spectrometer, the old AM-300 is still heavily used for quick
proton and 31P spectra. Replacing the spectrometer, or even the console
is not realistic in the short term. I would like to replace the drive.
I have found one source of a more modern disk drive (not today's
technology, but much more recent than what is currently on the Aspect)
for a price I can live with. Apparently I also need an updated disk
controller board from Bruker. I don't have all the details about that
yet.

Has anyone in this group successfully done such disk drive upgrade?
Where did you get it? Was the installation straightforward? Any
surprises? Are you happy with it? If there seems to be sufficient
interest, I will post a summary of responses.

Thank you,

Dave
