Dear Colleages:

i am planning to migrate part of UNIX systems into PC base plateform
for running the XWINNMR and spectrometer.
Would like to get your advice on the firmware and more importantly about
the adminstration (in term of security!).

1. User administration:
We have lots of turn-over in users and all would like to
electronically access to their data files.
Would Linux a better choice in terms of control access and
security ?
2. Stability:
What is your experience when running XWINNMR on the PC between a
Window and Linux platform?
3. How about the idea of having two disks (separate or different
partition), so that I can independently boot to Window or Linux ?
4. Users check their data from one spectrometer to the others.
UNIX box is very user friendly. Just telnet and the xterm is
ready to run xwinnmr.
How is the communication (X-window) between your PC box and the
UNIX box?
5. Any HOW-to book on LINUX for a UNIX chemist?

Thank you to share your experience, I will summerize the result for
those who are interested in this issue.
Forgive me to repost this question, if there is similar discussion on
this topics earlier.
