Downloading files from magnetic tape to hard drive

Hi all,

I saved data from uxnmr onto streaming magnetic tape using the commands:

cd /u/data/guest/nmr/username
mxtar cv *

I would like to download the files into a different directory, such as
dummy

/u/data/guest/nmr/dummy

I do not want to put the files into the username directory.

When I cd /u/data/guest/nmr/dummy, then mxtar xv *, the files get
downloaded into username, not dummy.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
