remote XwinNMR session on Linux from SGI

Dear all,

I have a user group who are trying to log in remotely to my facility
SGI machines from a Linux box and run XwinNMR. They can run XwinNMR
OK, and get graphics, but the color handling is such that when data
is displayed all the text and menu text and backgrounds change to
black and so cannot be read? Does anyone know any workarounds? The
installation on the Linux box is:

Running Debian Linux 3.0 (woody)
Linux Kernel Version 2.2.20
on an i586 system
Xserver is Xfree86
window manager is gdm

and the SGI O2 is running Irix 6.5.14 or 6.5.20 (I'm part way through
upgrading) and XwinNMR 2.6

Thanks,

Phil.
