I've got an answer to my problem. McAfee Firewall, under its advanced
options, allows one to declare an IP address as "trusted", which allows
all traffic from that IP address, regardless of the firewall rules. I
set the spectrometer's IP to be trusted, and this got everything talking
again. I'm not certain if this is an ideal solution, but at least it
works. For those running Symantec, perhaps it has a similar option?
