A year or so back I replaced an AS1 mouse with a Logitech Pilot Mouse
(serial type obviously). It works fine and cost a fraction of Bruker's
$80. Current rodents from Logitech all seem to have a wheel and I haven't
tried any of these. I believe that Logitech is the default pointer but
I've noticed that there is an alternative (Mouseman) see man Xmips which
may be worth investigating.
