            Dear Dr. Lumsden,

For my opinion you can reduce problems with broken inserts by:

1. Install additional air vessel to lift system. Plastic Pepsi bottle 2
liters is a good solution. It reduces the speed of sample drop.

2. Install additional lift button directly on magnet. Connect it parallel
to standard lift button in console. Every our five spectrometers are
equipped with this additional button. You will avoid "dancing".

3. Reduce the height of a new insert ~1 mm. Sometimes vertical
tension on the insert arise in the probeheads.

With best wishes and kind regards, Yuri Strelenko.
