Dear Chuck,

the situation that a user logs out without ending XWIN-NMR causes the
trouble you described. The problem is described in our bug database (no.
3035). We fixed this situation in the new NMR-SUITE version 3.5, that
will be released this year.
The workaround for NMR-SUITE 3.1 is a little bit different than Sandy
described it. Sandy is right of course, it does not make sense (but
trouble!) to logout without ending an acquisition, but your problem also
occurs if user logs out without ending XWIN-NMR! So just inform your
users to exit all programs before they log out.

Best Regards

Sven

|
|
|I have recently converted 4 spectrometers to NMRSuite 3.1
|(Linux). One
|of the machines especially is having a problem where is doesn't allow
|the next user to start Xwinnmr because it says the license is
|exhausted.
|I think the problem is processes that remain active when a
|previous user
|logs out. This has happened with Xwinplot also. It is very annoying
|because the next user can't kill the process without being root. Does
|anyone know what causes this and/or have a solution?
|
|
|Thanks, Chuck
