'plot' in XwinNMR 3.5 on SGI

Dear all,

I am currently upgrading 6 SGI computers from XwinNMR 2.6 to 3.5 and
am interested in reproducing the function of the on-screen 'plot'
button from 2.6 in 3.5.

I hadn't realized before today that this button allowed for vertical
scaling of the plotted spectrum according to the on-screen display. I
had always advocated use of the keyboard 'view' and 'plot' commands
instead. Some of my users are now pressing 'autoplot' and complaining
that the scaling no longer takes place. 'autoplot' uses XwinPlot
layouts for output.

In 2.6 the keyboard command 'plot_1d' is the equivalent of the screen
button, but in 3.5 this command also invokes 'autoplot'.

So what I'd like to do is find a way of reproducing the old 'plot_1d'
behavior in 3.5 using an au program.

I realize that Bruker want us to use XwinPlot these days, but it is
very slow to start up under Irix and is more than a lot of users want
to wrestle with.

I could just revert to 2.6 on my processing stations but the main
advantage of 3.5 is the improved integration with XwinPlot, and it
would be nice to keep both facilities.

Another option would be to install both XwinNMR 2.6 and 3.5 and let
users run whichever they prefer. I will experiment with this.

Regards,

Phil.
