RE: 'plot' in XwinNMR 3.5 on SGI

Dear Phil,

as you noticed correctly there are indeed differences in the philosophy
of the 'plot' button in XWIN-NMR 2.6 and the 'autoplot' button in
XWIN-NMR 3.5.

Dear Phil,

the button 'autoplot' in XWIN-NMR 3.5 prints the same spectrum areas as
the button 'plot' did in XWIN-NMR 2.6.

In both cases the program automatically takes the x-axis range which is
visible on the screen (parameter 'f1p' and 'f2p') and uses it for
creating the plot. Both versions, 2.6 and 3.5, do not use the y-scaling
information from screen for the plot.

The y-scaling information can be modified with the parameter 'cy'. This
parameter is used by the 'edg-plot' in XWIN-NMR 2.6 and can be used also
in XWIN-PLOT 3.5. But XWIN-PLOT offers some more powerful possibilities
to define which part of the spectrum and which scaling should be used
for printing. To change these settings click right on a spectrum and
choose 'Automation ...'. These settings are stored in the layout file
and can be used very easily for many datasets.

If the automation settings of a layout are using 'cy' or not you can
always open XWIN-PLOT with the command 'xwp'. This will always use the
parameters 'f1p', 'f2p' and 'cy' regardless which automation settings
are defined for the current layout.
The same information can be send directly the printer with the command
'autoplot -f'.
Anyhow clicking on the 'autoplot' button will set 'f1p' and 'f2p' and
will instruct the layout to use 'cy' anyway.

Starting XWIN-PLOT (with the command 'xwp') may takes longer than
starting 'view' but in XWIN-PLOT you have the possibility to change
things and modify the plot in just a few seconds.

These manual changes can be done, but with the 'Automation ...' options
of XWIN-PLOT you can also configure your layout that the print out will
be correct automatically.

Best Regards

Sven
