kernels, grub, lilo, etc.

Hi,
I'm trying to add yet another network card to a Linux (RH7.3/Xwin 3.5)
box controlling the spectrometer. Consequently, I need to compile a new
driver.
On our PC, we have kernel 2.4.18-26.7 with no kernel sources and
2.4.20-20.7 with kernel sources. We're running the 2.4.18-26.7 kernel,
however, through lilo.

My question: Is Xwinnmr or any other Bruker component compatible with
2.4.20-20.7 or should I load on the 2.4.18-26.7 sources? Will there be
any problems booting through lilo or grub to the 2.4.20-20.7 kernel?

Thanks,
David Horita
