Dear Dr. Markus,
The file permission problem is arising because the exp and conf
folders of the old PC are copied into the new PC after topspin is installed.
Inside the Bruker Utilities shortcut found on desktop, there is command
prompt shortcut. open it and type perl\bin\perl prog\bin\installnmr
C:\<TOPSPINHOME> <nmrsu>
this would update the permissions.

Note:
     1. If topspin is updated, running of firmware update for some of the
boards (SGU/HPPR/DRU/BSMS) may be required.

     2. In case the old PC was with Linux and the new PC is Windows, then
topspin needs to be reinstalled after the conf and exp folders are copied.
Else au programs will not compile.

     3. Topspin comes with au program nmr_save. We can use this to save and
restore the nmr configuration across topspin installations. And personally,
I find it as the best way to migrate the settings. This can be done as
follows.
open topspin of old PC and run nmr_save - give the nmrsuper user password.
In the opened dialog box,
location of backup file - C:\<TOPSPINHOME>\nmr_backup
installation to be saved or restore destination - C:\<TOPSPINHOME>
Spectrometer name - spect (Or the conf that needs to be copied say
av400,...)
Click on save

This will create a backup of the topspin configuration in
C:\<TOPSPINHOME>\nmr_backup folder.
Copy this folder into the new workstation C:\<TOPSPINHOME> directory.

Open topspin in new PC, execute nmr_save - give the nmrsuper user password.
In the opened dialog box,
location of backup file - C:\<TOPSPINHOME>\nmr_backup
installation to be saved or restore destination - C:\<TOPSPINHOME>
Spectrometer name - spect (Or the conf that needs to be copied say
av400,...)
click on restore.

    4. Additionally, copy the files in the old C:\Documents and
Settings\<user>\.topspin-computername PC into the new PC C:\Documents and
Settings\<user>\.topspin-computername

With Best Regards,
   Raghav

More info can is found chapter 8 of in the Topspin 1.3 installation guide
