Jim,

         You summed it up, it simply needs to be easier to use. With
"plot" and a couple of appropriate modifications you can get a "what you
see is what you get" plot that for many applications works
adequately. XWin-Plot is just not that "undergraduate" user friendly, they
are our main user here.
