A McMaster spin-off company won the Life Sciences Company of the Year award. Fusion’s CEO, John Valliant, Canada Research Chair in Medical Isotopes and Molecular Imaging Probes, and Professor, Chemistry &Chemical Biology, accepted the Life Sciences Company of the Year award presented by Life Sciences Ontario at a gala event honouring leaders in the province’s life sciences sector. Philip Britz-McKibbin has been awarded a 3-year, $100,000 per year grant from Cystic Fibrosis Canada for his program entitled “Metabolomics for Improved Screening and Prognosis of Cystic Fibrosis Infants: Translation of New Biomarkers for Resolving Diagnostic Dilemmas”. Congratulations to Phil and his team for this expansion of their exciting work in this area.
The Monsaroff Student Paper Competition took place on February 12, 2018. This annual event is hosted by the McMaster Chemical Engineering Club and sponsored by the Hamilton Section of the Chemical Institute of Canada. C&CB students Mohammed Raza and Victoria Marando presented papers. Congratulations go to Victoria for winning this year’s competition. She was presented her medal at the CIC Chemistry and Engineering Conference.
